Genealogy is defined as "an account of the descent of a person, family or group from an ancestor". But, of course,
the hard part is obtaining that "account". I have been working on the Cathcart family genealogy for about 8 years
now, and I don't feel like I am close to knowing everything about the family.
In this, my first issue, I will be concentrating on the general history of the ancient Cathcart Clan, which actually
appears to have been of "Norman" extraction. You will see just how closely aligned our family was with Robert de Bruc, King
of Scots and William Wallace of "Braveheart" fame. In upcoming issues I will try and take you on my genealogy trip
with me. I think it will be fun and if you want to contribute with information or ideas, please feel free to let me know via
email at billparmer@comcast.net. Bill Parmer
